Wood plastic composites with improved electrical and thermal conductivity

Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) are used to produce wood plastic composites (WPC) with improved electrical and thermal conductivity. The polypropylene/wood/GNP hybrid produced by melt compounding followed hot pressing. effect of GNP loadings (5, 10 15 wt%) on conductivity, tensile properties, degradation WPC containing 20 wt% flour is studied. fast slow cooling rates during pressing the surface resistivity evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy fracture polished cross-sections analysed. (PP-W20-G15) measured show 2.05E + 06 Ω/sq conductivity 0.61 W/m.K. There a significant increase in PP-W20-G15 when compared (PP-W20). helps distribution which PP filled GNP. It was found that dependent rate considerable decrease strength an modulus WPCs PP-W20 neat polypropylene.
